Go-Green Eco Movement News

The Amazon was the go-green eco movement of the 1990s. The Amazon rain forest is a storehouse of carbon. It is the very carbon that heats up the planet when it's released into the atmosphere causing global warming, causing the go-green eco movement to worry about the affects of creating biofuels on Amazon land. Deforestation of the Amazon to grow crops to create biofuels is causing more carbon to be released into the atmosphere, creating an increase in global warming instead of a decrease as the go-green eco movement believed it would.

The demand for farm grown fuels has raised global crop prices to record highs, which is spurring a dramatic expansion of Brazilian agriculture, which is invading the Amazon at an increasingly alarming rate. This is against the beliefs of true go-green eco movement activist.

Increased anxieties over soaring oil costs and climate change have caused biofuels to become the vanguard of the go-green eco-tech revolution not true go-green eco movement activists. Politicians and Corporations have jumped on the biofuels band wagon to show they're serious about finding alternative sources of energy and in the process slow global warming. The go-green eco movement was not intended to use fuel markets as a way to increase revenue.

Several new studies show the biofuel boom is doing exactly the opposite of what the go-green eco movement proponents intended. It's dramatically accelerating global warming and destroying the planet in the name of saving it.

Corn ethanol, has turned out to be environmentally disastrous. Cellulosic ethanol made from switchgrass, which has been promoted by go-green eco movement activists and eco-green investors as well as by President Bush, as the fuel of the future, looks less green than oil-derived gasoline. This was not the intention of the go-green eco movement but more researched was needed before the go-green eco movement jumped on the band wagon with the politicians and corporations.

Grain and oilseed crops being grown and harvested are to feed our fuel tanks instead of our children (this is against the go-green eco movement as far as I am conserned). Biofuels are causing the price of food around the world to rise so high that the worlds population is going hungry (again not the teachings of the go-green eco movement that I follow). The grain it takes to fill an SUV tank once with ethanol could feed a person for a year. I do not think the go-green eco movement activists had this in mind when lobbying for change to protect our earth from global warming.

The basic problem with most biofuels is simple, using land to grow biofuel crops leads to the destruction of forests, wetlands and grasslands that store enormous amounts of carbon which when released into our atmoshere causes global warming! Which is not the agenda of the go-green eco movement.

Wind Energy, Solar Power,and natural energy alternatives are the way to save our planet and encompass the beliefs of the go-green eco movement not biofuel crops that are starving the people of our world and destroying our planet (totally against the go-green eco movement).
