United Healthcare To Begin Using CareSpeak Text Messaging for CareGiver Alerts and to Push Compliance With Requested Responses

Text messaging is just that and in my own course of work I just use Outlook and Windows Live to schedule reminders for me but this is different of course herewith image3 different levels of text reminders.  The key to this being a success is to work and limit how many messages you want so your phone does not drive you nuts.

The first is for diabetes management, second for med reminders and the 3rd is for the doctor or care giver to follow up and check up on you so you can see they areimage very different in what they do. For the physician, if this is not integrated into an EHR  then it’s one more area of software he/she has to worry about.  Secondly is as everything has today, who see and keeps the data?

The reason for the mention is that with subsidiaries today, we don’t know which one shares data with the other ones so that’s the only item that worries me with such services.  We are seeing all types of web services and even when shared with a wellness service, some of those are owned by insurance companies so who really knows.

With the compliance responses we can almost assume the text and responses will be stored in a data base somewhere.  If we could just be assured such data is used just for better care, we wouldn’t have some of the concerns we have out there today.  I didn’t see a privacy policy listed on the site unless I missed it but profits for employers and insurers are listed as benefits.  BD

CareSpeak Communications announced this morning that it has inked a deal with UnitedHealth Group to bring the health plan’s members two-way mobile text messaging services focused on improving adherence to treatment regimens. CareSpeak expects its service to come online over the course of the next year.

The CareSpeak-powered UnitedHealth SMS service will alert caregivers when those under their care are not complying with recommendations, which could help them intervene more rapidly.
