Kentucky ranked sixth in nation for obesity, fourth in high blood pressure, second for diabetes

A new report shows 29.5 percent of Kentuckians are obese, sixth highest in the nation. The state ranked second in the nation for the highest percentage of diabetes, with 13.7 percent of Kentucky residents diagnosed with the disease, and fourth in high blood pressure, at 36.3 percent.

According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, West Virginia had the highest rates of obesity (35.3 percent),  diabetes (15.7 ) and high blood pressure (38.9) in the country. Colorado had the lowest, with 18.5, 6.8 and 22.6, respectively. Colorado "is the only state where fewer than 20 percent of adults are obese," reports Elizabeth Mendes for Gallup. West Virginia's obesity rate is the highest for any state since the study began in 2008.

The survey asked respondents if they had been diagnosed with diabetes or hypertension. to measure obesity, "participants were asked to report their height and weight, allowing Gallup to calculate their body mass index," reports The Huffington Post. A person with a BMI of 30 or higher is considered obese. (Read more)

Natural ways blood pressure can be controlled

My blood pressure has now returned to its normal level. This may have been helped by the garlic supplement, or by drinking the correct amount of fluid each day, ( see my earlier post ) or it could be that the drug Ramipril is now starting to work.

If the above had not worked then I had intended to start taking the herb Hawthorn, I still may do this but I do not want to mix it with Garlic. Hawthorn is a shrub and its berries contain many active flavonoid compounds. Hawthorn can dilate and relax coronary vessels, reducing blood pressure and improving blood supply to the heart, and therefore beneficial in the prevention and treatment of angina.

It may not be wise for me to take Hawthorn at the moment, because of taking Ramipril and garlic as this may lower my blood pressure by too much, symptoms of this are nausea and feeling faint.

Why is my blood pressure so high?

My blood pressure has been very high since my doctor changed my medication to Ramipril 5mg, the last reading at my GP was 165/102. I am trying to reduce using natural remedies such as Niacin 100mg per day (vitamin B3), and Garlic supplements 1000mg per day. I don't think it helps that I am stressed out all the time.

I read that drinking water may help, as this would flush out some of the sodium from my body so I decided to give it a try. I took my own blood pressure reading and it was 160/99, still far too high. I then drank a glass of water, after ten minutes I took another reading which was 153/93, a little better. I then drank another glass of water. After ten more minutes I took another reading which was 145/89.

The water seems to be helping although it could be that I needed the fluid anyway. I would be interested to hear other comments from people that may have tried using water to reduce their blood pressure. Please follow me if you find this post interesting. Thank you.

LOWERING BLOOD PRESSURE USING SELF HELP.

Acupressure can be used as a self help technique for promoting health and balance and thus preventing disease and disorder. It is a way of providing pressure, gently at first and gradually increasing the pressure on various acupoints.

Acupoint K1 is a third of the way down the sole of the foot, in the depression below the ball of the foot, in line with the third toe in from the little toe.

Providing pressure here, twice a day for about 60 seconds on each occasion can regulate blood pressure, clear the mind and relieves hot flushes.

Support for blood pressure and circulation

Kiwi fruit can help and support blood pressure and circulation.
Kiwi fruit is an outstanding source of vitamin c which cleanses the body and helps resistance to disease, it is also rich in potassium making it suitable for people with high blood pressure or oedema.
Kiwi fruit has a special enzyme called actinidin which can help digestion, and is therefore great for people with weak digestion or a tendency for constipation.

Supplement that can help prevent the super bug and cancerous tumours.

Today I have started taking odourless Garlic capsules 1,000mg, in the hope that they will help lower my blood pressure and protect in heart health. The other reason I am taking Garlic is to help protect myself from viruses and infection such as flu, which is going around at the moment.

Garlic is one of the most popular alternative medicines it contains a powerful sulphur compound Allicin which was found to kill the so called super bug (MR SA), which is resistant to antibiotics.
Garlic is also useful to prevent heart attacks and strokes, and also quite beneficial in inhibiting the growth of cancerous tumours. It has a strong anti-viral and anti-fungal action.

My father-in-law suffers from diabetes and I understand that Garlic will also help this condition, so he intends to supplement his diet with Garlic.

I would like to know what the maximum dosage of Garlic is?. Do interested members know the answer to this question. Please add comments below.
